Supposedly the seller’s father was the original owner and the bike had been hanging in his barn/garage for the past 30+ years. Trim paint has been restored using a paint pen.Ī few weeks ago I purchased a 1972 Raleigh Grand Sports from a gentleman in Rochester (NY) who was selling it on Craigslist. The frame still has original paint with only a few blemishes, those on the fork being covered with Reynolds 531 decals. Both were replaced with Campagnolo Record. When purchased in an online auction, it had a no-name BB and headset indicating another life as some sort of bike. This frame was the victim of its components having been stripped of them at some time in the past. This is a frame-up build using original specification components that are period/year-correct. It is what they called Champange color (light brown with gold hand lettering). I own a 1970 (at least purchased from Raleigh dealer in 1970),formerly Striets Schwin of Gainesville,FL. Now has tubular wheels mounted and Simplex FD GB stem drilled for center pull brake cable Weinmann Vainqueur brakes, 27" rims, and stainless fenders Worksop/Nottingham "Carlton" Raleighs, 1966+: The bicycles listed here are not for sale. Worksop/Nottingham and Carlton 5-digit serial examples are welcome.
